Our Founding Story
Equipt grew out of MovementX, a clinician-led company built to fix what’s broken in traditional physical therapy.
After seeing how insurance constraints led to rushed visits, provider burnout, and poor patient care, we created a model that restored autonomy, quality, and purpose.
In 2021, an unexpected request from a county jail showed us where that purpose was needed most.
A small pilot revealed that early, on-site PT dramatically reduced pain, transports, and medical spend while restoring dignity and hope.
That insight became Equipt. We wanted to bring evidence-based rehab directly to correctional facilities to create meaningful impact for patients and systems alike.
Musculoskeletal pain doesn’t pause at the prison gate—if anything, it’s magnified.
But the current standard of care is inconsistent, reactive, and often outsourced to off-site providers who don't understand the population or the environment.
