Movement is a human right.

We make it possible for every body.

THE PROBLEM

We all know that musculoskeletal issues don’t stop at the prison gate—if anything, they’re amplified. But the current standard of care?

It’s inconsistent, costly, and often outsourced to external providers who don't understand the population. That’s where we’re different.

THE SOLUTION

Our compassionate physical therapy team provides quality, culturally sensitive care on-site at your facility.

Whether recovering from a stroke, managing chronic pain, coping with migraines or dizziness, or recovering from an amputation, we equip incarcerated individuals to move confidently and reclaim their independence.

Quality Care for Adults in Custody.

Empathetic Providers

Great care starts with connection. We don’t hire just any PT—we hire people with heart, energy, and genuine compassion to build trust and drive better outcomes.

Decreased Opioid Usage

We teach adults in custody effective, non-narcotic strategies to manage pain—reducing dependence on opioids and supporting safer, healthier recovery.

Expert Care = Faster Healing

Our licensed professionals hold doctoral PT degrees from accredited universities and deliver evidence-based physical therapy with proven outcomes.

Increased Health Literacy

We equip adults in custody with the knowledge and skills to stay active and healthy—building confidence, independence, and long-term wellbeing.

Proactive & Holistic Health

We equip adults in custody with the skills to safely build and adapt exercise habits—helping prevent chronic disease, reduce anxiety and depression, and support overall mental health.

Consistent Care Frequency

Many facilities are only able to receive physical therapy care a few times per month. With reliable staffing and scheduling, you can be sure a PT is onsite at whatever frequency is needed.

Less Nursing Staff Burden

We take on musculoskeletal (MSK) care so nurses can focus on their core duties. That frees them up from addressing conditions they have minimal time and resources to treat.

A Partner You Can Trust

We communicate clearly, show up consistently, and work seamlessly with your medical team to meet the needs of your population. We can also subcontract with existing partners.

  • “Equipt turned our most persistent musculoskeletal headaches into measurable gains—fewer transports, grateful individuals, and real budget relief.”

  • "I’ve never seen an outside vendor integrate this smoothly or document outcomes this clearly; they set a new standard for correctional rehab."

  • "Within three months, Equipt cut our off-site ortho visits in half and boosted staff morale in ways I didn’t think possible. Telehealth was a game-changer too!"

  • "Equipt fit within our existing contract and leveled things up. We had more consistent on-site staffing, better communication, and our nurses were freed up to focus on other priorities."

 FAQs

FROM CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES

  • By delivering evidence-based PT on-site, we cut expensive ER visits and off-site transports for MSK issues—typically driving double-digit savings in year one and reducing custody overtime.

  • We do. Equipt recruits, vets, onboards, schedules, and supervises licensed, PREA-trained PTs—giving you dependable coverage without HR or compliance burden.

  • Most sites go live in 30–45 days pending badges/EMR access. You’ll receive compliance-ready documentation, weekly audit checks, and quarterly outcomes reports aligned to NCCHC/ACA standards.

FROM THERAPISTS

  • Care occurs in secure clinic spaces with custody nearby and clear protocols. You’ll complete PREA, de-escalation, and site-specific safety training before seeing patients.

  • Most roles start part-time/PRN (15–20 hrs/week) with room to grow. We offer premium hourly rates, paid documentation time, and mileage/travel support.

  • Two+ years of ortho/neuro outpatient is ideal, but correctional experience isn’t required. We provide correctional-care onboarding (security, trauma-informed communication, EMR training) so you’re set up to succeed.
